Welcome to Calvary's Online Campus!
The message is from the book of John 21:1-19 with a title called Surviving a Failure – Peter’s Restoration
John 21:1-19 After these things Jesus showed Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, and in this way He showed Himself: 2 Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together. 3 Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We are going with you also.” They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing.
We pray that you are blessed by the message!

bible interpretation challengesYou probably already know that the Bible was originally written to someone else who:
1. lived a long time ago,
2. in another part of the world,
3. where they spoke a different language,
4. and had different cultural values.
A word that captures one of the greatest challenges and frustrations in Bible interpretation is distance. There are four aspects to this distance: time, geography, language, and cultural values. Being aware of these is a critical step toward interpreting the Bible correctly.
In this video, adapted from William Klein, Craig Blomberg, and Robert Hubbard's Introduction to Biblical Interpretation online course, we'll take a look at each of these.

Look at the BookLook at the Book is a online method of teaching the Bible. It's an ongoing series of 5–10 minute videos in which the camera is on the text, not the teacher. You will hear John's voice and watch his pen underline, circle, make connections, and scribble notes — all to help you learn to read God's word for yourself. His goal is to help you not only see what he sees, but where he sees it and how he found it.

John Calvin, the Accidental ReformerJohn Calvin was a sixteenth century French theologian, best known for his prominent role in the Reformation and his influential theology. More than four and a half centuries after his death, Calvin's teachings continue to shape Christian beliefs, particularly regarding predestination and God's absolute sovereignty.
In their online course, Church History 2: From Pre-Reformation to the Present Day, scholars Frank A. James III and John Woodbridge discuss John Calvin's life and influence, and expose the moment when his life dramatically changed course in Geneva. This video comes from James' course.
