Why LATIN MASS Attracts Youth Back to Mass

Young people ages 14-29 are returning to the Catholic Church by means of the Latin Mass. Older generations are shocked to learn that people born long after the Second Vatican Council are gravitating to traditional Latin Mass, veils, Gregorian Chant, Latin, traditional religious orders, and traditional parishes. Ray Grijalba shares with Dr. Taylor Marshall the recent interviews with young adults and why they prefer the traditional Latin Mass and traditional forms of Catholicism.

Catholic TV Mass Online May 24, 2020: The Ascension of the Lord

TEXT FROM THE GOSPEL AND HOMILY

The Lord be with you. And with your spirit

A reading from the holy gospel according to Matthew. Glory to you o Lord.

The eleven disciples went to Galilee to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them. When they saw him they worshiped, but they doubted. Then Jesus approached and said to them, "All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of father, and of the son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age."

The gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

My mom is a big source of comfort to me when I feel lonely, when I feel low the person that I call is my mom, just to talk, just to hear what's going on with her life, so just talking with my mom is a big source of comfort to me and I kind of forget what's going on in my life so my attention shifts to what my mom is going through. And she would always tell me “I'm praying for you and you will do well.” Those words are always a big source of encouragement and courage for me. And today Matthew in the gospel takes us all from Jerusalem to Galilee and there we witness Jesus meeting the disciples for the last time before his ascension. And the status of the disciples at that time was they were still trying to come to terms with their experience, their encounter with the risen Jesus, though their encounter with the risen Jesus have brought them back to their trust in Jesus they still had doubts in their hearts. And Jesus knowing their doubtful hearts, comforts them with the following words that we heard proclaimed. "I am with you always and until the end of the age.” The disciples needed to hear those words of Jesus because those words of Jesus were healing and comfort to them, to their doubtful, broken hearts. And brothers and sisters, this is one very big important message that we hear from Matthew's gospel. If you go back to the beginning of Matthew's gospel we hear the promise of God through angel Gabriel to Mary “Behold you will conceive and bear a son and you will name him Emmanuel, which means “God is with us.” From the beginning, and today we heard the last words from Matthew's gospel Jesus saying, “I am with you always and until the end of the ages.” So the message for all of us brothers and sisters today is, that God is present here and now in you and i, in each one of us and especially in the places that we least expect, in the people that we least expect, to see the face of God and that is what Jesus constantly tell us that, “When you do this to the least of my brothers and sisters, you do that to me and where two or three are gathered in my name I am there. And God is always and everywhere present.” And like the disciples, sometimes because of our fears and confusion and what is going on within us, we seem to lose focus of the presence of God and today brothers and sisters we are invited to be open and to be attentive to the presence of God in and around us, especially in the least of our brothers and sisters.
